Vladimir Putin makes a working visit to the UAE and Saudi Arabia
The parties discussed further development of relations
Russian President Vladimir Putin and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in Abu Dhabi on 6 December. This is reported on the
official website of the Russian President.
Putin noted that the UAE is the largest investor in the Russian economy. Over the past year, investments in the non-oil sector grew by 103 per cent.
The Russian president also stressed that he expects UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to attend the BRICS summit in Kazan in the autumn of 2024, the year of Russia’s chairmanship in the organisation.
“I am very pleased that the United Arab Emirates is starting to work in the BRICS system. In 2024, Russia will chair this organisation. We will continue contacts along this line as well. We will be waiting for you at the summit in Kazan next October”

In turn, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan noted that relations between the countries have a historical character and the partnership will only strengthen in the future:
“I will be happy to continue working to strengthen our relations and expand areas of co-operation for further growth and development in the coming period,” he said.
An important component of Russia-UAE bilateral relations is industrial co-operation, including projects in the automotive sector, metallurgy for renewable energy, pharmaceutical products and digital technologies.
It should be recalled that at the last BRICS summit in South Africa, six states were invited to join BRICS. Among them are Argentina, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the UAE.
