The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Favaro, participated in the third Planeta Campo 2023 Forum, organised by the Canal Rural portal. The event, held in Sao Paulo, aims to raise awareness among rural producers to improve sustainable local production environments. This is reported by

During the videoconference, the minister emphasised that the federal government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock continue to work to promote sustainable development in Brazil, so that the country can become a benchmark of sustainability for the world.

It is proposed to incorporate an additional 40 million hectares of degraded or low-productivity pastures into the production zone over the next decade. This will allow intensification of food production without accelerating deforestation in already preserved areas and using methods that do not emit carbon dioxide.

Favaro also said that it is necessary to remain optimistic because Brazil is the centre of food security in the world. “Thanks to the strength of Brazilian agribusiness, the economy is growing, creating jobs and sustainable opportunities,” he concluded.

The forum brought together representatives of government, academia and civil society, leaders of the agricultural sector to discuss issues related to sustainable production, which is now synonymous with market competitiveness.
