UNESCO praises the quality of school education in Kerala
The report has three specific mentions on the use of technology in the education sector in Kerala
The Global Education Monitoring Report 2023, published by UNESCO, has three specific mentions on the use of technology in the education sector in Kerala.
Under the heading “Collaborative work will improve the quality and diversity of content creation”, the School Wiki portal is mentioned as an international model. The report says that a remarkable achievement is the development of content about more than 15,000 schools.
The portal is the largest repository of local language information on education in India, including information on schools, works of government school art festivals, digital magazines and so on.
Titled ‘Some countries have become champions in Free Software’, it presents a model for running digital education in schools in Kerala.
The report, highlighting the Kerala government’s digitalisation policy, notes that 2,000 laptops with the latest freeware applications have been installed in schools in the state. The third mention in the UNESCO report is the inclusion of Kerala in the list of states with the highest level of internet connectivity in schools in India, as reported by Trinity Mirror, a partner of TV BRICS.
