Vladimir Putin: The Far East is a strategic priority for Russia for the entire 21st century

Russian President speaks at a plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum

On Tuesday, 12 September, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session of the 8th Eastern Economic Forum.

The Russian President noted that last year Russia’s trade turnover with Asia-Pacific countries increased by 13.7 per cent. And for the first half of this year added 18.3%.

“We expect that our trade with APR states and economic relations in general will continue to develop. After all, Russia and our Far East are open for strengthening trade and cooperation ties. And the potential of such cooperation simply cannot be overestimated”

Vladimir Putin added that the Far Eastern Federal District is 40% of the territory of the Russian Federation. “Here is almost half of our forests and gold reserves, more than 70% of fish, diamonds. Over 30% of titanium, copper. The most important strategic enterprises, seaports and railways work,” he stressed.
