India’s Council of Ministers has passed a resolution on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which epitomises India’s progress on the world stage.

In the document, the highest executive body of the Indian government expressed gratitude to the scientists of the Asian country and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for their efforts leading to the achievement, which it described as monumental.

The Council of Ministers expressed satisfaction over the declaration of 23 August as National Space Day and said the feat would also serve to motivate the younger generation to pursue science.

The resolution emphasised that India was the first country to reach the south pole of the moon with the expected accuracy and overcome the harsh conditions, which is a testimony to the fortitude of scientists.

The Cabinet said the wealth of information transmitted from the Moon by the Pragyan spacecraft would pave the way for the country to make innovative discoveries and penetrate the mysteries of the Earth’s natural satellite.

The Cabinet expressed pride in the large number of women scientists who have contributed to the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and India’s space programme as a whole, who will inspire new generations of women in the industry.

The Indian Council of Ministers noted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continued commitment to India’s space programme for the welfare of people and scientific progress.

The Indian government’s top executive noted that a number of reforms have been initiated over the past nine years to promote scientific research and innovation, such as the establishment of IN-SPACe in 2020.

The document added that with the successful realisation of the Chandrayaan project, the space sector will become even more accessible to Indian startups and local MSMEs, create billions of jobs and open up opportunities for new advancements, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
