The four-day programme was remembered for establishing business connections between entrepreneurs from different countriesBusinessmen from eight countries (Brazil, Russia, China, India, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan) came to Omsk to participate in the face-to-face format of the BRICS Business Incubator International Acceleration Programme.Participants presented their developments, presented projects to each other and to investors in order to finalise them and find funding for development. They also visited Omsk enterprises and studied the experience of Omsk State Technical University in the implementation of science-intensive and technological projects. Before the closing of the event, the experts announced the best proposals that will be supported with financial assistance and further promotion of the projects. Among the best are projects in the field of nanomedicine, dentistry, creation of water treatment equipment, construction of budget houses, and a chain of coffee shops.Participants were very enthusiastic about the format of the event, the level of organisation, the hospitality of Omsk and their colleagues, with whom they began to develop long-term relationships.“I believe that organising the work of such platforms not in Moscow or St. Petersburg, but in such regions as Omsk, for instance, allows our friends from BRICS or SCO countries to show what a beautiful country we have and that it is possible to develop in it. Throughouth these days, we got acquainted with many interesting projects. It is pleasant that the participants of the programme are thinking about the future, working in the field of ecology. These are large and complex initiatives that are worth exploring in detail. There are more mobile projects, short-term projects. As a result, we have chosen several startups that we can take under our wing, and we plan to help them develop and grow from the idea they have to the final product,” shared Samvel Harutyunyan, an expert of the business incubator and Chairman of the Board of the ANO Eurasian Investment Agency. The work of the BRICS Business Incubator ended with the signing of over a dozen cooperation agreements between participants and investors, as well as directly between entrepreneurs from different countries.
An International Investors’ Council was set up on the basis of OmSTU, comprising experts who took part in the BRICS Business Incubator. It is expected that the council will monitor and identify promising innovative projects by authors from among the university’s students and teaching staff and promote them at the regional, national and international levels. Attracting investment will also be one of the council’s functions.
“It is great that on the final day of the BRICS Business Incubator, participants took the initiative to hold the next programme in 2024 in all the countries of the association. Already in September we are planning to hold an online organising committee to prepare next year’s event,” said Tatyana Seliverstova, Programme Director.
The BRICS Business Incubator was organised by the Government of the Omsk Region, Omsk State Technical University and ANO “Leaders of International Cooperation”. The programme was also supported by a grant from Rosmolodezh through the All-Russian Youth Project Competition.
