Kazakhstan intends to use AI to combat locusts
The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan plans to introduce advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to combat the spread of locusts, which pose a serious threat to crops. This is reported by
KazInform, a partner of TV BRICS.
This was announced by country’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhekhanuly during a roundtable discussion on cooperation with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
“Such solutions are needed to optimise crop protection works and ensure sustainable agricultural development in the country,” the Deputy Minister said.
Apart from locust control, the ministry is focusing on introducing digital technologies in the agro-industry, especially in the area of traceability of livestock products. Electronic systems have already been developed and implemented to automate identification, certification and monitoring processes at all stages of the livestock production life cycle.
