F State ANC denies plans to dissolve PEC amid reports of factionalism

The Free State African National Congress (ANC) Secretary, Polediso Motsoeneng, has refuted claims that the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) will be disbanded.

This follows reports that factions are widening within the provincial ANC leadership.

Motsoeneng has admitted that as a party, they have internal challenges. He, however, says the visit by the ANC National Working Committee is not informed by issues of disbandment.

“It is a normal phenomenon in the ANC that the national leadership of the ANC would visit provinces to interact with the structures at the lower level to ensure that there is still life in the organisation and check the state of the organisation, and out of that they will make their own determination. But the intention is also to mop up whatever challenges are there. So, the issue that the leadership is coming to the Free State to disband, there is no such.”
