Russian language textbook for Arabic-speaking students to be presented in UAE
The textbook pays much attention to the peculiarities of the Russian grammatical system
Abu Dhabi on 22-23 February will host the seminar “Russian Language and Area Studies in the System of Course Education”, where a new textbook “World – We study Russian”, developed for Arabic speakers, will be presented. The publication has been prepared by the team of St. Petersburg University (SPbU) under the guidance of Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Leonid Moskovkin.
The textbook combines modern methods of teaching Russian with the cultural context familiar to Arabic-speaking students. It addresses in detail the difficulties students face, including the variability and mobility of Russian accents and case endings. The material includes writing exercises and texts about Russia and the Middle East. Students will learn more about cosmonaut Yury Gagarin, ballerina Maya Plisetskaya, singer Viktor Tsoi, and other famous Russians. One of the heroes is also the first Emirati cosmonaut, Hazzaa Al Mansouri.
At the seminar, Professor Moskovkin will give a lecture on the development of teaching aids for Russian as a foreign language and give a presentation of the new edition, which was created with the participation of orientalists from the Department of Arabic Philology at SPbU and practising teachers from the Middle East region.
The event is organised by the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature in partnership with the Russian School in Abu Dhabi and supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. Russian language teachers from the UAE and other countries of the region are invited to participate.
