Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian outline plan for further contacts during telephone conversation

They discussed the agreements reached at the talks in Kazan

At the initiative of the Iranian side, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation on 2 December. This is reported by the official
website of the Russian President.

They discussed topical international and regional issues, as well as the development of cooperation between Moscow and Tehran in various fields, taking into account the agreements between Putin and Pezeshkian following the talks in Kazan.

In addition, the two sides planned further contacts at the highest and other levels.

Putin and Pezeshkian met on 23 October on the margins of the BRICS summit. At that time, the Russian head of state emphasised that Iran’s joining the association opens up additional opportunities for joint work in the international arena. He also noted that one of the most urgent tasks in the bilateral relations of the countries is to consolidate the emerging positive dynamics of trade and economic interaction. Among the priorities, the Russian president named the implementation of major joint initiatives, including the North-South transport corridor.

For his part, Pezeshkian said that Russian-Iranian ties are actively developing in all spheres. He expressed hope that the states would soon sign a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement.

Before that, the two presidents met in Turkmenistan, where they took part in the International Forum “Interconnection of Times and Civilisations – the Basis of Peace and Development”.
