Saudi authorities launch new initiative to attract tourists to the Hail region
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has announced the creation of a company aimed at developing tourism in the administrative district of Hail in the north of the kingdom. The new initiative comes as part of the Saudi Winter Season programme covering the country’s key tourist destinations, as reported by
Arab News.
The Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, officially unveiled the new company during a visit to Hail, emphasising the important role of the private sector in developing the tourism industry. He said the launch is in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 programme, which aims to diversify the economy and make tourism one of the leading industries.
The company has already started offering tourists a variety of activities including desert camping, sandboarding, off-road safaris, excursions to historical sites such as Jubbah. The tour packages are tailored for families, groups and those who prefer to travel alone.
In addition, during the visit, the minister announced the launch of one thousand international and 10 thousand domestic educational programmes for residents of the region, and signed memoranda of understanding with the Hail Development Authority to implement new tourism projects. He said the Tourism Development Fund is considering supporting major initiatives which will provide the region with 850 new hotel rooms.
Hail, known for its UNESCO-listed Hail Rock Art and Fayd Historic City, is one of the Kingdom’s most culturally rich regions.
