Winners of the “Partitura” Young Composers Competition to be announced in Moscow on 26 November

For the first time, representatives from Kazakhstan and Belarus have participated in the competition

The final of the III All-Russian Competition of Young Composers “Partitura” will take place on 26 November in the Grand Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where winners will be determined across eight categories encompassing various musical genres and forms. TV BRICS serves as the event’s media partner.

In 2024, the competition attracted a record-breaking number of entries – 1,094 works from 101 locations across Russia. For the first time, composers from Kazakhstan and Belarus joined the competition. Many compositions were dedicated to significant anniversaries and milestones of prominent Russian cultural figures, proposed as priority themes.

The works were evaluated by a professional jury, including the Chairman of the Council of the Union of Composers of Russia, Aleksander Tchaikovsky; the Rector of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Aleksander Sokolov; conductor Yury Bashmet; saxophonist Igor Butman; founder and artistic director of the Helikon-Opera Theatre, Dmitry Bertman; composers Yury Poteyenko and Aleksey Rybnikov; among others. International jury members included Chinese composer Zuo Zhenguan.

The music of the winners will be performed by the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory. According to the organisers, the competition’s primary goal is to support young talents and promote their work. Music by the finalists has already been performed at concerts in Moscow.

“We believe that holding such a competition can provide an additional impetus to the development of compositional creativity, and the winners’ music will enrich the repertoire of the country’s musical and theatrical ensembles”
