Young singers from Brazil and Madagascar win “Our Generation” Junior Song Contest
Participants from 15 countries performed their songs in the presence of 2,000 spectators
The finals of the “Our Generation” Junior Song Contest, which united young singers from 15 countries of the world, ended in Kazan. TV BRICS was the international media partner of the event.
Participants from Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Madagascar, Mongolia, Nigeria, Russia, Uganda, and Uzbekistan and competed for the victory.
According to the results of the popular vote, the winner was 11-year-old Filamatra Matokia from Madagascar with the song IRAY (“Together”). The professional jury gave the first place to Augusto Carvalho, a 12-year-old singer from Brazil, who performed with the composition 100 Deus (“100 per cent God”).
“Unbelievable! I never thought I could win first place in such a big competition. Thank you to everyone who supported me and believed in my abilities. <…> This victory inspires me to continue making music, to strive for new heights and to share my feelings with the world,” the young Brazilian performer shared.
For her part, Matokia noted that she put her whole soul into the song. She thanked those who voted for her and emphasised that this project was an opportunity to meet many talented people and learn about different cultures.
The finals took place at the Tennis Academy in Kazan, where the young talents presented their songs in front of more than 2 thousand spectators. The obligatory condition was a live performance of an original song created by the participant himself or with his active participation.
The “Our Generation” contest is held by the Centre for Creative Development “Academy of Modern Art” with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The project for children and teenagers from 9 to 16 years old is aimed at developing young talents, strengthening friendly ties between countries and popularising national cultures.
