The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has obtained a preservation order from the Special Tribunal against Groen Mintirho (formerly Enviro Mobi), a company linked to former African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) member, Pule Mabe.
This comes just a month after Mabe and his co-accused appeared in the Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge.
The group are facing alleged fraud and corruption charges relating to the 2016 tender worth R27 million, issued by the Gauteng Agricultural Department to Mabe’s company.
The said preservation order restricts Mabe from selling, leasing, transferring, or otherwise dealing with specific assets.
SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago elaborates, “The order restricts Mabe from selling, leasing, transferring, or otherwise dealing with specific assets, including: 1, An immovable property located in Steyn City, Gauteng Province and a luxury motor vehicle, Porsche 911 Carrera GTS.”
“The SIU’s investigation uncovered significant irregularities in the procurement of 200 motorised three-wheeler vehicles valued at over R27 million for a waste management project.
Despite payments made to Enviro Mobi, evidence indicates non-compliance with procurement regulations, misrepresentation and failure to deliver contracted services,” adds Kganyago.
Magistrate Soko Rantao postponed the case to March next year.
