Iran increases fish production
Iran’s production of fish products in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20 to October 21) exceeded 512,000 tonnes, a 32 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
According to Hossein Hosseini, the Head of the Iran Fishery Organisation (IFO), fishery exports also increased by 44 per cent in weight and 28 per cent in value during the period. This is reported by

He noted that according to the programmes developed by IFO, the country’s fish and seafood production is expected to reach 1,459,700 tones by the end of the current calendar year.
The industry currently employs 144,000 fishermen and 117,000 people in aquaculture, of which 18,000 are engaged in direct farming of fish, shrimp and algae.
