Model of the BRICS technological development platform is developed at foresight in Moscow
The platform design is based on the pyramid of technological sovereignty and the periodic table of technologies
The model foresight “BRICS Technological Development Platform” was held in the Russian capital. During the event, participants worked out projects for cooperation between the BRICS countries in the field of innovation. The event was organised by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation Platform for the National Technological Initiative (NTI).
Representatives of leading technology companies from the BRICS countries took part in the foresight. Andrey Seeling, Executive Director of the National Technology Initiative Platform, explained that this meeting was aimed at creating a special format of interaction within the BRICS framework, which will be applied in other countries in the future.
The BRICS technological development platform is based on the pyramid (model) of technological sovereignty and the periodic table of technologies. The pyramid represents a set of areas including artificial intelligence, big data, virtual reality and other areas. They were categorised along five axes: valence, degree of technology complexity, degree of maturity, degree of impact on critical infrastructure and investment cycle length. Based on this, a kind of periodic table of technologies was created.
The foresight participants were told about the pyramid in detail during an introductory session, after which they were divided into groups. During the group work, they presented their ideas and initiatives in the field of technology, developing a common vision of the BRICS technological development platform model.
Ivan Karpushkin, one of the organisers of the event, specialised on the technoculture, director of the Laboratory of the Future, advisor to the Director General of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), told TV BRICS in an exclusive commentary that the model of BRICS technological sovereignty developed by the NTI Platform could form the basis for international cooperation in the field of technology.
“Today we are trying to travel to the future together with participants from the BRICS countries and see what challenges await us there, what technological answers to these challenges we can prepare together, and which companies will have the opportunity to participate in this. We also plan to find out what technological solutions can be used for a bright and positive future,” he said.
According to Karpushkin, as a result of this work, representatives of the group’s countries will formulate architectural proposals for a common BRICS technological platform.
In turn, Majid Rezai, representative of the Scientific and Industrial Department of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Russian Federation, told the media network that the Iranian leadership has been deepening bilateral technological cooperation with Russia for decades. He added that with the accession to BRICS, the country can develop in innovative directions even faster.
Participants from Brazil, UAE and India also shared their impressions and expectations from the foresight with TV BRICS. Thus, Joao Pedro Novochadlo, CEO of a Brazilian company, said that he came to the event to present his ideas in the field of technological development and exchange knowledge and experience with colleagues from BRICS countries. He specified that the group work discussed current trends in innovation, including artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous systems and their alignment with ESG principles that define sustainable business development.
Another foresight participant, Shajan Thomas, CTO of Dubai-based tech startup Shajan Thomas, pointed out the importance of strengthening collaboration within BRICS for the technological development of the group’s nations and their economic growth.
“We have to be paced in all regions, especially in BRICS. Companies in these nations are at different stages of technological development and have different infrastructure. However, thanks to a group such as BRICS, developing countries can get the innovations from the leading countries like China and India,” Thomas emphasised.
Also present at the event was Pankaj Gaur from India, representing an agriculture startup. He told the media network that the panel discussion centred on the impact of technology on various spheres of people’s lives.
The model foresight was held on the sidelines of the BRICS Technology Conference. The participants of the meeting will present the final memorandum during the BRICS Business Council meeting to be held on 17-18 October.
