Mapisa-Nqakula corruption case postponed to December

The case against former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has been postponed to December, as her defence is set to bring a substantive application by then.

Mapisa-Nqakula, facing charges of corruption and money laundering, made a brief appearance at the High Court in Pretoria this morning.

State attorney Advocate Bheki Manyathi says both the state and Mapisa-Nqakula’s defence attorney have agreed to the postponement.

“The date of hearing of the application is 5 December, and again by mutual agreement, we ask my Lord to set timelines. The defence to file the application by 28 October, the state respondent is to file the answering papers by 15 November, and the applicant defends to file the replying affidavit, if any, by 25 November and heads to be filed by 2 December by both parties”
