There no quarrels with the GNU: Mashatile

ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile says there are no quarrels within the Government of National Unity (GNU) contrary to what is being publicly portrayed. This as Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has been at loggerheads with the DA’s Federal Chairperson Helen Zille over the party’s refusal to work with the DA in Gauteng.

The GNU is marking 100 days since the constituting of the 7th administration in June.

Mashatile says ANC in Gauteng told them that the DA is making it difficult for them to form a government and therefore, were instructed to leave them behind.

“So the issues about tensions really don’t exist. With Hellen Zille and Panyaza, well I’m sure that they will resolve those issues. As far we are concerned, we said to the government of Gauteng led by the ANC that if the DA doesn’t want to work with you in Gauteng, leave them behind, it’s not your problem and they must not make it our problem nationally because we are working well with them nationally,” says Mashatile.

The ANC’s deputy president says the ball is the DA’s court.

“It’s up to the DA to make sure that they work well with our structures in the provinces. We want our structures to work with them,” he says.
