ANCYL to take economic freedom march to the JSE

Members of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL)  have started to gather in the Johannesburg CBD ahead of their march to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in Sandton in the northern part of the city.

The economic freedom march aims to address the ongoing economic disparities. They include the high unemployment rate, deepening inequality and the ailing economy, which disproportionately affect African youth.

ANCYL plans economic freedom march

The league’s Gauteng convener, Ntsako Mogobe, says they will intensify their action if their demands are not met.

“We are going to intensify on everything. Capital and those in the private sector are very arrogant and they forget that we are the consumers of whatever they are delivering. And as they continue to be arrogant we’ll continue to disrupt their status quo and ensure that young people continue to show their anger and frustration towards them. But we are not saying ANC leaders in government must be comfortable because they hold political power to enable an environment to create job opportunities.”
