Saudi Arabia has moved up 25 positions in the UN’s 2024 E-Government Development Index. This is reported by
Arab News.

The kingdom is ranked sixth in the world, second among G20 members, and leads the Middle East. In addition, Riyadh ranked third among the 193 megacities that participated in the UN study.

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, stressed that the Kingdom’s position in the ranking reflects the government’s success in digitalising the country. Riyadh aims to become a regional and global leader in building an innovation economy, as outlined in its Vision 2030 development strategy. 

Since the programme was launched in 2016, Saudi Arabia has risen 53 positions in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Development Index and has shown significant progress in human capital development.

The e-Government Development Index has been published every two years for 20 years, analysing the efficiency of information technology use by government institutions and its impact on the development of countries.
