Fossils of previously unstudied dinosaur species are found in Brazil
The fossils belong to titanosaurs
In Brazil, researchers from the Federal University of Goias (UFG) and the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) discovered a dinosaur species never recorded before during an expedition in the border region of Ceara and Rio Grande do Norte.
The new species belongs to titanosaurs and has been named Tiamat valdecii. This is reported by
Metropoles, a partner of TV BRICS.
The discovery is considered historic because, in addition to being a new species, it is also the first to be made in the Potiguar Basin in northeastern Brazil.
What makes the new species different from other titanosaurs is that it has an obvious extra protrusion on one of its vertebrae.
