Venezuela creates National Cyber Security Council
The Venezuelan government has set up the country’s National Cyber Security Council as a tool for protecting communication and information technologies. The new government body was set up at the initiative of the Venezuelan head of state, Nicolas Maduro, according to information from
Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
The Council’s main functions include establishing a telematic incident supervision network, promoting cyber security training programmes, investing in strengthening the state’s telematic infrastructure.
In addition, the Council will be able to request data, statistics and information from public and private organisations relating to the country’s computer security.
One of the tasks of Venezuela’s new cyber security body is to create inter-institutional working and emergency committees to prevent the criminal use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
