India supports Malaysia’s accession to BRICS

This was stated by an Indian official at a briefing on the occasion of the visit of Malaysian Prime Minister 

India views Malaysia as a partner and supports its accession to BRICS. This was stated by the Secretary East in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Jaideep Mazumdar at a briefing on the visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to New Delhi.

“Malaysia is keen to become a member of BRICS and from our side, we have no hesitation in considering that request. This will be discussed no doubt when the other BRICS countries meet”

Earlier, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the strong historical ties between the two countries.

Narendra Modi announced the allocation of 100 seats for Malaysians under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme for advanced training in cyber security and artificial intelligence. This is reported by

The dignitaries also discussed work through ASEAN:

During the meeting, the heads of government discussed ways to deepen the India-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership, which has become even more vibrant given that Malaysian investment in India exceeded US$5 billion last year.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, for his part, expressed his hope to further strengthen relations between the two countries. The two leaders also signed a number of reciprocal agreements, symbolising increased cooperation in various fields.
