Egypt’s chemical exports grow year on year

Egypt’s chemical exports reached US$4bn in the first half of 2024

Egypt’s chemical exports reached US$4bn in the first half of 2024, solidifying its position as the second-largest contributor to the country’s total non-oil exports, according to the Chemical and Fertilisers Export Council (CEC).

Several chemical sectors showed significant growth over the period, including plastics (up 2 per cent), petrochemicals (up 7 per cent), detergents (up 21 per cent), inks and paints (up 8 per cent) and rubber (up 16 per cent).

Other chemical products grew by 3 per cent year-over-year. This is reported by
Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

Khaled Abu Al-Makarem, chairperson of the CEC, said that the strong performance of the chemical industry reflects the success of the government’s strategy to support and develop the sector and enhance its competitiveness in global markets.
