Russia strengthens its contribution to Africa’s food security
Rossotrudnichestvo organised a press tour for journalists from Africa
The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) held a food security roundtable with the participation of journalists from Africa.
The meeting focused on Russia’s achievements in agricultural development and its role in ensuring food security in Africa and the world. This is reported by
Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC), a partner of TV BRICS.
Russia is focussing on increasing the supply of agricultural products and technologies to Africa, emphasised Anastasia Sycheva, Head of the International Development Assistance Department of Rossotrudnichestvo. She noted that Africa has huge agricultural potential and a young population but faces food security problems. Russia is ready to help the continent cope with these problems.
Maxim Kuznetsov, Executive Director of the Russian Fertiliser Producers Association (RFPA), said Russia was ready to increase the supply of Russian mineral fertilisers to the African continent. He said Russia exports 40 million metric tonnes of fertiliser to more than 100 countries, showing a 50 per cent growth in the last 10 years.
Rossotrudnichestvo recently organised a press tour for journalists from Africa, during which they visited industrial plants.
Journalists praised the technological innovations and production capabilities of Russian enterprises, emphasising their important role in ensuring food security, especially in Africa.
Solomon Haileyesus, the editor-in-chief and newscaster at Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporate, emphasised Russia’s commitment to expanding port capacity to increase agricultural exports to African markets.
Haileyesus believes that the emergence of a multipolar world offers new opportunities for increased economic cooperation between Africa and Russia, especially in agriculture. He urged Ethiopia to continue strengthening ties with Russia to achieve food sovereignty and security.
