Ilkhanid-era vessels undergo restoration in Iran

The artefacts were discovered during archaeological research near the UNESCO World Heritage site of Soltaniyeh

After removing the sediment and restoring the damaged areas, these artefacts will be exhibited at the Soltaniyeh Archaeological Museum, said Abolfazl Aali, who presides over the World Heritage site.

He also explained that the conservation and restoration project includes several stages such as documentation, damage assessment, microscopic studies, technological studies, as well as cleaning (both wet and dry), removal of harmful stickers and labels, cancellation of previous improper restorations using powders and mechanical methods, injection consolidation, gluing, restoration of missing parts.

Soltaniyeh, meaning “city of sultans”, was briefly the capital of the Il-Khanid dynasty of Persia in the fourteenth century. This is reported by
Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
