Sanxingdui, located in China’s Sichuan Province, was discovered in the late 1920s and has since been considered one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Recent excavations have also revealed that Sanxingdui was a large and meticulously planned city with palaces, sacrificial sites, and developed infrastructure.

These discoveries testify to the high level of development of the Shu civilisation, which flourished in this region more than 4,500 years ago.

Cultural relics from the site have travelled to more than 100 cities around the world, attracting millions of visitors. Among the finds is a jade and stone “workshop” more than 3,400 years old.

Raw materials, tools, waste materials, and finished products were found in the workshop, tracing the entire process of making jade and stone products.

This discovery provides valuable information about the origin of the jade and stone artefacts found in Sanxingdue.
