India opens its first ever bird gallery in Dehradun city

The zone has the largest number of bird species in India – more than 710 species

The country’s first bird gallery dedicated to the diversity of feathered inhabitants of Uttarakhand state has opened in Dehradun, India. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

The gallery, created by the Uttarakhand Forest Department’s research unit, presents visitors with high-resolution bird images, allowing them to admire the beauty and diversity of the birds of the region.

The area is home to more than 710 species, which is more than half of the total number of bird species in India, making Uttarakhand a real paradise for ornithologists.

Among the most famous birds of the region can be noted: the Himalayan Monal with its bright plumage; the redtail that lives near rivers; the imalayan Griffon, a large vulture; the red-bellied woodpecker; and the black-headed jay.

Experts are confident that the new gallery is not just an exhibition but an attempt to draw attention to the richness of the bird world of Uttarakhand and contribute to its preservation.
