Saudi Arabia produces concrete with extremely quick carbon dioxide absorption
The Kingdom has proposed a proactive strategy to mitigate the effects of climate change
The materials science company and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology will work together to create concrete that not only stops carbon emissions during manufacture but also absorbs them over time. This is reported by the
Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The core of this invention is a binder composed of easily accessible natural and recyclable elements, such as saline, in Saudi Arabia.
This mix is made at room temperature, as opposed to conventional concrete production techniques, which require the energy-intensive manufacture of clinker or industrial heating.
As a result, the concrete not only absorbs carbon emissions over time but also completely eliminates them during production.
