China makes progress in preserving and promoting its cultural heritage
As part of the celebration of Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, China launched a national initiative to promote and showcase its intangible cultural heritage.
Since the 18th Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee, led by President Xi Jinping, has put the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage at the forefront of state governance. This is reported by
CCTV+, a partner of TV BRICS.
Digital technology for the management and display of cultural artefacts is developing rapidly. To date, the Palace Museum has digitised more than 900,000 cultural relics in its collection, established a platform for managing digital copies and set up a ‘joint innovation laboratory’ to explore qualitative methods for developing digital cultural relics.
Since the 18th CPC Congress, 62,000 sets of precious cultural artefacts have been restored, 130,000 ancient books have been published online, and the fourth national survey of cultural relics has been launched.
