Participants of SPIEF 2024 share their views on co-operation between BRICS countries
Experts emphasise opportunities for cooperation in the spheres of economy, culture, healthcare and food security
St. Petersburg is hosting International Economic Forum SPIEF 2024, which this year attracted more than 18,000 people from 136 countries.
The event will focus on developing business relations and expanding contacts with trade partners from different countries. The programme includes more than 150 thematic sessions with over 1,000 speakers.
At the session on the “Role of BRICS Nations in Ensuring Global Food Security”, experts concluded that global efforts to develop the agro-industrial complex and introduce advanced technologies are key factors in ensuring food security on the planet, which makes this area one of the most important in international relations.
Hala Helmy El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development of Egypt, in an exclusive commentary for TV BRICS, explained the potential of co-operation within BRICS countries.
“There is a lot of potential in the co-operation within BRICS in different areas, in the area of trade, investment, agriculture, especially with the pressing issue of food security now. I think a lot of complementarity can help both sides – BRICS and Egypt,“ noted the minister.
He also said that cooperation with BRICS will help Egypt to continue and implement its sustainable development programme.
On the sidelines of the meeting Daria Ivankova, Director of TV BRICS International Cooperation Department, stressed to
CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS, the importance of co-operation between the countries in a wide range of areas.

SPIEF, taking place this year from 5 to 8 June, is one of the largest and most important business events in the world.
