Ethiopian authorities have created a comprehensive digital database with information on 2.7 million businesses, the country’s Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Gebremeskel Chala, said. The country’s authorities have put into operation a modern information centre that allows businesses to access 16 vital services, including license registration. The minister also noted that Ethiopia has prepared a comprehensive e-commerce strategy.

The East African country is actively investing in projects that contribute to making the national Digital Ethiopia 2025 programme a reality. This strategic initiative is closely linked to the government’s economic reform agenda, as well as regional and global strategies for societal transformation.
