BRICS heads of academies of sciences meet in Moscow
The BRICS Academic Forum is dedicated to partnership in the interests of peace, mutual development and well-being
This BRICS Academic Forum is timed to coincide with the year of the Russian 2024 BRICS Chairmanship and is taking place on the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Konstantin Mogilevsky, Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, spoke about the main areas of cooperation identified by the Ministry within the framework of the Russian 2024 BRICS Chairmanship.
Thus, it is planned to launch flagship research projects that will be aimed at implementing large-scale research, including in the fields of astronomy, information and communication technologies, biotechnology, and others.
By joining new participating countries, it will be possible to expand the list of scientific installations within the framework of the BRICS GRAIN (Global Research Advanced Infrastructure Network) platform and consider the possibility of providing scientists of the association with access to research facilities and data. An interstate academic mobility programme can be developed for this purpose.
Work is already underway in the countries to organise internship and exchange programmes for young scientists, as well as to conduct international land and sea expeditions.
Ashutosh Sharma, Professor of the Indian Institute of Technology, stated that within the framework of the BRICS, countries are not only discussing current issues but also formulating particular steps that we will implement in partnership with each other.
